1st Annual Vines of Freedom: Exclusive Wine Tasting and Auction Benefitting Reset180
March 8, 2024
Participation in the 1st Annual Vines of Freedom event, hosted at The International Country Club in Fairfax, VA, represents a milestone moment for Adversity Cellars. This event not only showcased the collaborative spirit of Napa Valley's finest vintners, including esteemed colleagues Philippe Melka, Julien Fayard, and Celia Welch, but also underscored our commitment to supporting crucial causes that resonate deeply with our ethos.
The Vines of Freedom event, an exclusive wine tasting and auction, was designed not just as a celebration of viniculture but as a platform to bring attention to the pressing issue of human trafficking, with all proceeds supporting the mission of Reset180. Reset180 is a remarkable organization dedicated to combating human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation through prevention, disruption, and restoration efforts.
Heidi Bevan poured our select wines for an intimate group of wine enthusiasts. This gesture of sharing our wines, known for their resilience and passion, was our way of contributing to the event's success and the cause it supports. Our commitment to quality and philanthropy was further demonstrated through the donation of two Magnum bottles of the 2021 Catastrophe Cabernet, along with a private tasting for six at our home. These contributions, we hope, not only highlighted our dedication to the cause but also the collective spirit of the Napa Valley wine community in supporting meaningful endeavors.
Reset180's mission is to confront and mitigate the impacts of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. The organization has been educating and fighting against human trafficking since 2010, providing services to local survivors referred to them since 2015, and initiating outreach efforts in 2017. Their work, centered on prevention, disruption, and restoration, is vital in the fight against a form of modern-day slavery that affects countless lives.
This event serves as a reminder of the power of community and collaboration in addressing global challenges. As we look back on the success of the 1st Annual Vines of Freedom, we are reminded of the importance of our choices and actions. Supporting Reset180 and participating in this event aligns with our core values at Adversity Cellars, where every bottle we craft carries a story of struggle, resilience, and ultimately, hope.
We extend our gratitude to Doug & Holly Traxler and Marcus Graziano & Kathy Duncan for their impeccable hosting and to all those who participated and contributed to the event's success. Your support not only furthers the mission of Reset180 but also strengthens the bond within the wine community, united by a shared purpose beyond the vineyard.
As we anticipate future collaborations and opportunities to give back, we invite our patrons and fellow wine lovers to join us in this ongoing journey. Together, let's continue to support initiatives like Reset180, proving that wine can be a catalyst for change and a vessel for good in the world.
